Dr Alan Gray is a Clinical Psychologist specialising in neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation. He joined Headwise in 2012 after previously working in specialist NHS neuropsychology services at the John Radcliffe Hospital (Oxford) and Royal Hallamshire Hospital (Sheffield). He has considerable experience of working with both adult and paediatric client groups, offering neuropsychology input for the purposes of differential diagnosis, treatment planning, psychotherapy, brain injury education, cognitive rehabilitation, challenging behaviour interventions, and assessments of capacity, cognition, mental health, and risk.
Dr Gray’s preferred therapeutic approach is cognitive behavioural therapy, but he is experienced in offering an eclectic range of therapies including systemic, psychodynamic, and cognitive-analytical therapies. Dr Gray is an honorary research associate and teacher at the University of Sheffield where he lectures on neuropsychology and neurosurgical approaches to movement disorders. His research interests focus on Parkinson’s disease, basal ganglia functioning, caregiver burden, and neuropsychological outcomes of deep brain stimulation for neurological conditions. |
