Neuropsychological/ Psychological Rehabilitation
Neuropsychologists specialise in the treatment of cognitive, emotional, and behavioural difficulties arising from brain injury and neurological illness. At Headwise our team of highly specialist Neuropsychologists seek to work collaboratively with patients, their families, and their therapy teams towards their treatment goals. We deliver evidence-based psychological interventions that place patients and families at the heart of our work. We can see patients in their homes or at one of our conveniently located offices. All our clinicians are registered with British Psychological Society (BPS) and are regulated by the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC). Our team of highly qualified Neuropsychologists are able to offer:
• Cognitive rehabilitation, including the use of assistive technology to improve memory, concentration, and executive functions;
• Treatment of emotional difficulties such as depression, anxiety, anger, and PTSD;
• Therapy for mild traumatic brain injury and post concussion syndrome;
• Assessment and treatment of behavioural difficulties, including the development of positive behavioural support plans;
• Psychological input for both children and adults;
• Fatigue management strategies;
• Brain injury education for patients and their families;
• Support for caregivers’ emotional well-being;
• MDT working, including leadership of therapy teams;
• Staff training around brain injury;
• Treatment recommendations and progress reports for on-going litigation;
• Remote therapy sessions using video-based platforms, where face-to-face appointments are not possible.
At Headwise we also have Paediatric Neuropsychologists who provide specialised support for children with acquired neuropsychological disorders and developmental disabilities. We seek to work collaboratively with children and their families towards their treatment goals. This can include collaborating as part of an MDT; liaising with schools and special educational needs co-ordinators (SENCOs); linking with Educational Psychologists; working in conjunction with CAMHS and co-ordinating with Paediatric case managers.

Assistant Psychologist
Our team of Assistant Psychologists play a vital role in supporting the work of our Consultants. All of our Assistants hold an undergraduate degree (or higher) in psychology and are looking to pursue a career in clinical psychology. They work under supervision of our Consultants and provide a range of cost-effective clinical services, including:
• Administration and scoring of neuropsychological tests;
• Delivery of psychological interventions for emotional difficulties;
• Delivery of cognitive rehabilitation strategies;
• Brain injury education sessions for clients and families;
• Observations of clients and data collection for developing behaviour support plans;
• Working within multi-disciplinary teams;
• Providing training for support workers and monitoring effectiveness in the delivery of clinical techniques;
• Provision of sports concussion assessments for local professional boxers;
• Research work for conference submission and peer reviewed journals;
• Assisting with service development;
• Remote therapy sessions using video-based platforms, where face-to-face appointments are not possible.

Consultancy Services
We provide consultancy input focused on training, auditing, and service evaluations of neurorehabilitation services. We can assist you in identifying how to effectively use your service and provide training to support staff to deliver the best rehabilitation and care for neuro-rehabilitation patients. We can help analyse, monitor, and evaluate the effectiveness of delivery of clinical techniques and work with you to develop a plan for the future.
We currently advise a national residential rehabilitation service comprised of over 20 small/medium brain injury rehabilitation and care facilities across the country.
We work closely with a wider multi-disciplinary team and are able to offer services in Occupational Therapy, Vocational Rehabilitation, Speech and Language Therapy, Orthotics and Vestibular Therapy.
